Pine Trail Overview
The
White Pine Trail is
a 93 mile rail trail than runs from Grand Rapids to Cadillac,
Michigan. The trail follows the former path of the Penn Central
Railroad. The White Pine Rail Trail is the longest rail trail
in Michigan and one of the longest rail trails in the country.
Even the White Pine Trail is extremely long, there is good
access to lodging, food and supplies along its entire route.
The
trail surface is crushed stone and gravel for most of its
length. However, there are three paved sections

Rapids to Cedar Springs - 13 miles

Big Rapids to Reed City - 13 miles

Highlights
of White
Pine Trail
include 14 bridges, the Rockford Dam, the Black River Covered
Bridge, Lake Michigan, the "ghost town" of Williams
and the Alamo Township Museum.
